Holiday!

Saved by the Belles was a success. Proof. More proof.

Now we have a new party at the Good Life. We named our baby Holiday. Like a break or vacation, reminiscent of a certain Madonna song. Come see us this Saturday.
It'll be like this:

Indie girls are regular girls but with cuter outfits.

I've been slacking on my blogging, so I'll try to make this one long and comprehensive, covering many topics that are important to me.

1. brief synopses of recent shows I've been to... Sunset Rubdown at Middleast - played too many new songs. Broken Social Scene at the Wilbur Theatre- we left after they played for 2 hours. some of the company I was with was getting antsy and annoyed by the dude-guys behind us. I enjoyed them a lot. we drank jager in the stairwell. Pants Yell! at Tufts- always a pleasure to see them. Casiotone at Tufts - left after 3 songs because my sister was tired. but I like him, he's good people.

2. I have the best boss ever. today we went to the spa at the Charles Hotel and had massages and pedicures then went out for cheeseburgers.
(first pedicure ever)

this picture reflects how I prefer my feet to be noticed... in other words I prefer you not really notice them.

3. I recently read Little Children by Tom Perrotta. as soon as I finished, I watched the movie for the first time. whenever I'm reading a book that I know is also a movie, I imagine the characters as the actors that portray them (I'm sure this is a common thing). well the whole time I'm reading LC I'm under the impression that David Duchovny is the lead male, 'the prom king'. and I'm thinking - David Duchovny is not the chiseled quarterback dreamboat the author is describing.
Photobucket
then I realized he's not even in the movie... don't know where I got the idea that he was.

Anyways, I really loved this book and think you should read it so I won't divulge the blatant or subtle differences between the book and the movie. I will say that I enjoyed both.

4. what a crappy way to end the baseball season. I didn't even realize they were resuming game 5 tonight. I just happened to see a commercial for a 2008 World Series Champs Phillies commemorative coin or plate or something. I don't really remember the product, I was too busy wondering what I had been doing during the deciding game. then I remembered said game had dragged on since Monday. I was cheering for them to beat the Rays. and the crowd that was there for this victory really deserved to see the Phillies win it all...

recap: Monday - game 5 of the WS. played 5.5 innings then the game got stopped due to rain. tied 2-2. Tuesday - the fans from Monday night's game come back to see them finish game 5.
Photobucket
no bozos. Wednesday - fans come back to see game 5 resumed 46 hours later
Photobucket
the Thrilla in Philla ends with a Philly victory 4-3. Brad Lidge records his 48th save out of 48 save opportunities. that's pretty amazing.

5. I bought these frames at Savers for $1.99. my dad thinks I overpaid. I just had my prescription lenses put in.
Photobucket
I really like them.

PY! @ LE:60

Saturday the 4th of October found us doing our civic duty by supporting the arts. Being steadfastly in love with JP, we rarely venture outside its borders for entertainment. In this case, an outdoor PY! show and one minute films seduced us out of our shell.

I must say, Cambridge lived up to all my expectations by offering all performers, speakers and even the films the most dreadful, DNR crowd imaginable.

Dear Cambridge,
If you think something is funny, you should laugh. If you appreciate a film, consider clapping. If you like pop songs, tap your toe or bob your head. Once you have the hang of these simple movements, try to execute both at the same time.
How can you not love these boys?

This message is for your own good.
Love, IGAE

P.S. This song was dedicated to Heidi.

Black Kids + The Virgins

We here at IGAE love Black Kids.
Thursday, October 3, found us once again at the Paradise with it once again smelling of vomit.

H: That kid looks like a Culkin.
M: Oh. Yeah. I thought you said cokehead.
H: Ha. Or that.

Underage Boy: Do you know whose Corona that is?
M: Excuse me?
UB: Do you know whose Corona that is?
M: Yeah. It's mine. (raises bottle) Cheers.

BK was better than ever. The sound was great: big and full. Boston is stereotypically a tough town to performers. I'd like to think we have discriminating taste. We know what we like and when we like it, we dance to it.

After the show, we took the boys to Costello's (again). And then went for a pizza run. This is my photographic interpretation of the pizza run. Don't you think Pizza Run! would be a good name for a band? Me too.

Mad props to John for allowing us to cram into his car and driving us around.

Acronyms

M recently posted about CC at Paradise and Andrew's DJ night at MW (...ADTKJLI)
enjoyable (the show, MW, and the blog post).

tonight we'll be going back to Paradise for BK. then back to MW for SR. excited. maybe I will drive so we don't have to cab back to JP.

oh yeah we went to MW on Tuesday for a show..(acronyms won't really work here).. Needy Visions, Reports, and Phantom Buffalo. also partook in free bowling and free Dewar's. excellent all around.

KT's pool game.
Photobucket

we tried to go to a BD party in Allston on Saturday night. Allston really needs more street signs. couldn't find it. should have called TD.
wound up at GS for DJ DY. then an abandoned party in Allston til a girl asked us to leave. (but not before MLE attempted her first KS)

up next: PY! @ LE on Saturday and Stereolab on Monday (I think I'm going).

GO SOX!

Cut/Copy + The Presets

9:30PM - Arrive at Paradise Rock Club to see half of The Presets set and all of Cut/Copy.

Why do parts of the Paradise always, ALWAYS, smell like vomit? In one corner of the bar, I detected the distinct scent of barfed Cheetos. Perhaps the staff sensed our sense of smell because someone lit incense, presumably to cover the puke smell.

The club's layout is also quite strange. Giant poles in the center of the floor, blocking key views of the stage. The majority of the audience views the show from the either side of the stage. The sound person has the best, BEST, view of the performance. (Note to self: flirt and befriend sound person/persons)

The Presets were good. Cut/Copy was great. Lots of dancing a flashy lights and people throwing their hands in the air.

11:45PM - Take cab to the Milky Way in Jamaica Plain for ...And Don't The Kids Just Love It. Special thanks to Andrew of Pants Yell! for playing Hefner.

1:05AM - Walk home. Stop by Sev's Elev's for much-needed chocolate milk and Oreo Cakesters. Mmmm...

P.S. to singer of Cut/Copy - You are a total babe.
